We’re looking for a compassionate, committed and determined person with a passion for working with families to fill a full-time position with our Family Development and Self-Sufficiency (FaDSS) Program.  In this position you will provide strength-based services to enrolled families in Marshall County.  Through home visits you will guide, support, and nurture families towards economic and emotional self-sufficiency.  You will help families break down goals that seem out of reach into small steps that will lead to success.

Interpreter (English/Spanish): Mid-Iowa Community Action

Interpreter (English/Spanish) – Tama, IA

Interpreter needed for our Early Childhood Programs in Tama County.  Will provide oral interpretation of discussions into English and Spanish, maintaining content, context and style as much as possible.  Must have knowledge of the structure and content of English and Spanish, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.  May perform duties in family homes, group meetings or classrooms.  This is a casual position – will work on an as-needed basis.  This is not a full time position.   $15.00 per hour.

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated level of proficiency in reading, writing and speaking the English language and speaking the Spanish language in order to provide oral interpretation

Preferred:

  • Previous interpreting/translating experience
  • Demonstrated level of proficiency in reading, writing and speaking the English language and Spanish language in order to provide written translation

Mid-Iowa Community Action: Breastfeeding Peer Counselor

Brief Job Description/Summary:

Join the WIC team as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor and provide basic breastfeeding information, support and encouragement to new mothers.  Counsel pregnant and breastfeeding WIC mothers at the WIC clinic during scheduled clinic hours, and by phone, email, text outside of usual clinic hours.  Educate mothers on the benefits of breastfeeding, overcoming common barriers, and getting a good start with breastfeeding.  Will provide services to WIC participants in seven counties in central Iowa.

Required Experience and/or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Personal breastfeeding experience
  • A current or former WIC participant (in any state)

Preferred:  Ability to read, write and speak Spanish

We’re looking for people with a passion for early childhood education to partner with parents of children from birth to age three enrolled in our home-based Early Head Start Program in Marshall County.  Work with parents in their homes and help them write goals for their child based on his/her individual needs, interests and learning styles.  Plan and facilitate socializations – opportunities for children and parents to interact with one another in group settings.  Ongoing professional development opportunities and an excellent benefit package.   Fulltime position, 40 hours per week.  $15.14 – $19.85 based on education and experience. 

Required:

·        Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (classified as Infant Toddler Development Specialist 3)

·        Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field (classified as Infant Toddler Development Specialist 2)

Will Consider:

·        Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services or related field (or equivalent coursework) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (classified as Infant Toddler Development Specialist 1)

Preferred:

·        Home visiting and/or experience working with children 0-5 years old 

·        Bilingual English/Spanish
