Sunday, April 7: Chamber Experience Trip – Great Trains & Grand Canyons

Featuring two rail journeys, Grand Canyon National Park, Black Bart’s Steakhouse, Montezuma Castle, and more, this 6-day, 5-night trip, led by Chamber Explorations, is scheduled to depart April 7, 2019. Tuesday, April 9: Iowa Valley Leadership Trivia Night

Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; competition runs from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

You’re invited to join in a fun evening of collaboration and wits! The Iowa Valley Leadership Class of 2019 is hosting Trivia Night on Tuesday, April 9 at Fisher Community Center (709 South Center Street). Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Trivia competition begins at 6:00 p.m. Registration is $150 per team (teams of 8). Register here by Thursday, April 4th. Six Steps to Effective Crisis Communications

In today’s world, every organization is at risk for a crisis and now, we must act faster than we ever have before. If not prepared, reputational damage can occur within a matter of moments and may cause serious harm to your organization. Whether you’re looking to enhance your reputation or better respond in crisis situations, this session will provide you with public relations tactics and communications best practices to prepare, defend, and promote your organization.

This training will be presented by Courtney Shaw. Shaw is the Vice President of Communications at the Greater Des Moines Partnership where she helps tell the DSM USA story loud, bold, and broad through media relations and content creation.

Cost is $25/person (includes lunch). Registrations accepted through Monday, April 8. Open to Chamber members only.

Thursday, April 18: Iowa Valley Leadership

Each year, co-sponsors Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce and Iowa Valley Continuing Education select 25 to 30 dynamic individuals who represent a cross section of the community and bring diverse strengths to the team to create the Iowa Valley Leadership Class. These emerging leaders take part in a nine-month program that immerses them in a knowledge of different sectors of the community as well as engages them in activities. They go on to hold leadership positions in their companies, serve on non-profit boards, volunteer for community organizations and hold public office. These leaders help make Marshalltown a great place to live, work and do business.

Wednesday, May 1: 50th Annual Scholastic Banquet

6:00 p.m.

Each year the Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce hosts a Scholastic Banquet celebrating the successes of the top 5% of graduating seniors from Marshall County high schools: East Marshall, GMG, Marshalltown and West Marshall. This year marks the 50th year for this event. Lennox Industries is the Presenting Sponsor of the evening.

Co-sponsored by Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce and Iowa Valley Continuing Education, the group consists of 25 to 30 dynamic individuals who represent a cross section of the community and demonstrate diverse strength sets. These emerging leaders have taken part in a program that immersed them in a knowledge of different sectors of the community as well as engages them in activities. They now go on to hold leadership positions in their companies, serve on non-profit boards, volunteer for community organizations and hold public office. These leaders help make Marshalltown a great place to live, work and do business.
