History on Third Thursday

The History on Third Thursday program on April 20 will feature MHS and Miller students, presenting their research topics for National History Day. This year’s theme is “Taking A Stand in History”. MHS presentations will include an exhibit by Jacqueline Wahl titled “Korematsu vs. United States: Standing up for Japanese-American Rights in WWII” and a group documentary by Kaylee Foth and Molly Sickles titled “Griffin vs. Katz: Taking A Stand Against Segregation in Des Moines”. Miller presentations will be Mary Kate Gruening on “Sophie & Hans Scholl: The German Youth Who Took a Stand for the Resistance” and Emma Kuhlers & Taylor Jones on “Cap Anson: Taking a Stand for the Segregation of Baseball.”
