History in Motion: Military Convoy Parade and Vehicle Show
MILITARY VEHICLE PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION PRESENTS HISTORY IN MOTION! Hosted by the Iowa Veterans Home!
Come on down to the 13th Street District to watch the Military Convoy Centennial Tour Parade from 5-5:15 p.m. in the 13th Street District and then the community is welcomed on to the Iowa Veterans Home grounds from 5-7 p.m. to check out the restored military vehicles, history presentations from convoy members and delicious food trucks in the Sheeler parking lot!
Feel free to make and display signs of appreciation for our Veterans to share with our own Iowa Veterans Home residents! Let them know how much you appreciate their service to our country!
The parade route will be from 13th Street area ending at the Iowa Veterans Home at the Sheeler Parking Lot. Come find your spot on the 13th sidewalk between 4:30-5:00 p.m. No parking in the 13th Street district from 4;00-5:30 p.m. between Summit and Fremont Streets. Parking in the 13th Street Plaza and West End Park and baseball field are welcome.
“The Lincoln Highway Association is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a tour commemorating the centennial of the 1919 Army convoy across the Lincoln Highway. The original convoy during the summer of 1919 was a monumental event in the history of the United States. On that convoy was a young army officer named Dwight Eisenhower, who learned many lessons as they crossed the country on the Lincoln Highway.” For more information about the coast to coast convoy see here:
