The Friends of the Marshalltown Public Library will hold its annual book sale on Friday, February 22 from 5:00-7:30 PM, Saturday, February 23 from 9AM-2PM and on Sunday, February 24 from 1-4PM. The sale will take place in the library’s Community Meeting Rooms.
Books will be available for every age and interest. A large selection of books for kids will be for sale along with best sellers, mysteries, romances and westerns. Non-fiction selections will include cookbooks, biographies, history, inspiration, travel and more.
On Friday, we will have a Friends of the Library member preview night from 5:00-7:30 PM. Friends of the Library members will get a chance to peruse and purchase books and other items before the general public. This is for Friends members who have paid their dues in the last year; people can also become a member of the Friends of the Library the day of the sale for $10.00.
Books will be sold on Saturday for $1.00 for hardcover titles and trade paperbacks and 25 cents for mass market, pocket-size paperbacks. DVDs, videos, and other media also will be available at the sale. The traditional “bag sale” will be on Sunday when a grocery bag of books will sell for just $1.00.
This year’s sale will feature a “Collector’s Corner.” A selection of collectible books, including first editions, autographed books, books with local interest and other books with worth will be individually priced for the sale. The “Collector’s Corner” will be located near the check-out desk.
Donations are now being accepted for the sale. As usual, textbooks, encyclopedias, Reader’s Digest Condensed Books and books in obvious bad repair will not be accepted. Along with fiction, non-fiction and children’s books, DVDs, VHS movies, records and audio materials will be accepted. Donations may be dropped off at the check-out area until February 17 and then directly into the sale area beginning Tuesday, February 19.
All proceeds from the sale go to the Friends of the Marshalltown Public Library and will be used to purchase new materials of all types and for all ages.
